Threading has been used for hundreds of years in the Middle East, South and South-East Asia. It’s only just becoming popular in the Western World. It is a great way of removing unwanted hair that involves a special anti-bacterial coated cotton. Popular for use on smaller areas requiring 'de-fuzzing' over here but we have learned that in some Eastern countries it is part of a bridal ritual. The female members of the family gather and remove every hair from the bride’s body before the wedding ceremony!

Threading involves twisting a special cotton thread that has an anti-bacterial coating between the fingers and around the base of the hair to pull them out of their roots. It is generally faster and less painful than waxing, and the results can be more precise as it follows the natural hairline and the hairs can be removed individually.

This is perfect for removing smaller areas of unwanted hair such as eyebrows, upper and lower lips or chins. The precision that can be attained by threading makes it ideal for eyebrows as it gives a more chiselled and arched affect without losing your natural eyebrow shaping.

Your therapist will encourage you to become comfortable on our treatment couch. During threading the cotton is looped and those loops are then twisted around the unwanted hair to dislodge them from their follicles. The technique is swift and precise as well as being highly effective.

Threading is perfect for anyone wanting to remove excess hair, especially those with sensitive skin. In some cases, people that have to use some Vitamin A products have been recommended not to use waxing, but threading is fine as no products are used on the skin at all.

Honestly, a LITTLE, but only as much as most hair removal systems such as waxing, sugaring or plucking. It is so swift that it is all over before you will realise it! Clients have often said that it is a lot less painful than waxing.

This really does depend on how quickly your hair grows but in general 4 to 6 weeks is average. With continued threading, you may very well find that hair re-growth takes a lot longer and any hairs that do appear may be finer and less unruly.

With eyebrow shaping, the shape created will last longer, with just a few hairs re-growing after time, minimising maintenance.
